You know I have a day job as clark kent and in our sporting department, we get so many different gadgets and contraptions for toning the abs, pumping up the pecs, buffing and waxing the body, armoralling your legs, and so on, and so on…
An associate asked me what I thought of her putting the “perfect situp” on layaway. I asked why she just didn’t do crunches with legs elevated on a sofa. Get the same results, costs a lot less.
Had the day off and while my wife was at a luncheon with her friends, I went for a jog. I jogged to the local community park – located about a mile up the hill – and did my circuit routine before coming back.
My circuit routine consists of:
- Incline situps
- Dips on parallel bar
- body curls (hanging leg raises)
I do 2 circuits of max repetitions on each exercise. I rest long enough to walk from station to station (a few seconds).
After the last circuit, my abs are burning, my pecs are pumped, and my back feels great.
My cost is not much. Bought my running shoes for 35 bucks about a year ago. Time to buy a new pair.Â
The beautiful, Hawaii weather comes with territory.
The point is…
Exercising and being healthy isn’t about the newest gadget or fad diet. It’s about you and your desire/need/want to be healthy. Because if you have the want-to, then the how-to is pretty basic and inexpensive.
So, get the want-to – that’s all you.
I know, I know…
It’s tough finding the time and you have so many other priorities.  Who has the time and money to head to the gym or fitness center?  And my goodness, that Tower whatever cost 200 bucks…
Hey, I say again, it ain’t about the how-to. And it’s tough generating the want-to, I get that.
Harder yet, it’s never more true than when you are without a job. Still, that’s when you must really make the time to be healthy and choose to be healthy. Because at day’s end, all you have is your health, then your family, then your friends.
Run, walk, do jumping jacks – but get your body moving and be healthy.
