What Color Is Your Parachute? 2010: A Practical Manual for Job-Hunters and Career-Changers
Now a couple of weeks ago, I began this website by recommending Phil Baker’s One Click Cover Letter Creator as a powerful tool for landing a job interview. But getting to that job interview or knowing where to send that beautiful cover letter requires some serious research. And a great place to start is www.jobhuntersbible.com.
This wonderful website is the creation of Richard Bolles, author of What Color Is Your Parachute? 2010: A Practical Manual for Job-Hunters and Career-Changers. If you are not familiar with this book, run – do not walk – run to your nearest library and check out this book. With 10 million copies, transcribed in 20 different languages and published in 29 some countries, this book is must in your arsenal.
What makes this book so effective is not just the job hunting information and strategies, but rather its holistic approach to finding one’s purpose. It’s an ambitious book that goes beyond the practical information on how to conduct a job hunting campaign. This is a book that helps you understand who you are and makes that the start of finding a job, or starting your unique career.
I found this book back in 94, way before he had his www.jobhuntersbible.com. The thought provoking exercises and the soul searching this book encourages lead me to quit my job and head to Korea where I met my wife and started my family. Its not an understatement to say that it altered the course of my life. What will it do for you, I do not know but no matter where you are in the job hunt, this book will help, perhaps alter your course.
As always, let me know what you think.
